7011855: G1: non-product flag to artificially grow the heap
It introduces non-product cmd line parameter G1DummyRegionsPerGC which indicates how many "dummy" regions to allocate at the end of each GC. This allows the G1 heap to grow artificially and makes concurrent marking cycles more frequent irrespective of what the application that is running is doing. The dummy regions will be found totally empty during cleanup so this parameter can also be used to stress the concurrent cleanup operation. Reviewed-by: brutisso, johnc
README: This file should be located at the top of the OpenJDK Mercurial root repository. This root repository will include a "make" directory, and a Makefile for building the entire OpenJDK. A full OpenJDK repository set (forest) should also include the following 6 nested repositories: "jdk", "hotspot", "langtools", "corba", "jaxws" and "jaxp". There are also several source downloads for the jax* repositories that will be needed. This one root repository can be obtained with something like: hg clone http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk7/jdk7 openjdk7 To make sure you have all the nested repositories, you can run: cd openjdk7 && sh ./get_source.sh (This is identical to using the Mercurial Forest Extension command 'hg fclone http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk7/jdk7 openjdk7').
